TiVo is a DVR from Tivo Inc introduced in 1999, that revolutionised the way people watch TV.
TiVo was amongst the first, and the best, DVRs available in the market. It enabled users to record multiple TV shows, set up automated recording schedules, discover and record shows of interest based on actor, theme etc. TiVo also made popular the concept of trick-play whereby viewers can pause, rewind, or forward live TV – making it possible for viewers to fast forward through commercials, or replay crucial moments of a live match. TiVo also allows for users to record one show, while watching another.
Recent TiVo boxes are internet enabled and can connect directly to the Internet to download information, video and music.
