The early days of deregulation saw a bunch of new arrivals on the Australian telecommunications landscape. While plenty did not last the distance, iPrimus did. The third player to enter our telco market after Telstra and Optus, iPrimus was the broadband arm of American company Primus.

Now, 20 years later, iPrimus is part of the Vocus Group, Australia’s fourth largest telecommunications company. This means not only is iPrimus 100 percent Australian owned, but the company has the size and scope to be one of the top competitive and reliable telcos on offer.

What is iPrimus?

Just as they were two decades ago when they burst onto the scene, iPrimus is still known for competitive pricing and excellent services. While they’ve got a reputation for competitively lowering prices across the board, their reach has seen them invest considerably in recent years.

They’ve been upgrading and extending their networks recently, making sure they continue to have the capacity to cater for Australia’s always evolving internet usage. This reflects their status as one of the big players on Australia’s telecommunication landscape and means that they are less likely to be influenced by decisions made by Australia’s other major telcos, including Telstra and Optus.

Given that many newer or smaller providers are forced to include the cost of renting from Telstra’s exchange capacity, this provides iPrimus with an important advantage. Like fellow Vocus Group stablemate Dodo, iPrimus is known for its variety, flexibility – and its bundles. In fact, in Australia, iPrimus pretty much invented the bundle – doing so way before all the other cool kids followed suit.

Free 6mth upgrade on selected plans!

iPrimus offers fast, unlimited data with free speed upgrade on selected plans. $0 setup fees with free modem, plus the option to add Fetch for streaming apps in one place.

iPrimus NBN plans

An advantage of being with one of the big boys is that they have the variety and flexibility that only a few Australian telcos can offer. They also cater to both NBN and ADSL, meaning if you’ve got a roof over your head and somewhere to plug your phone into, there’s a pretty good chance iPrimus offers a plan for you.

For families, renters, and other types of household owners who are looking to get the best of entertainment and a reliable broadband connection, iPrimus offers a convenient range of plans that would allow for easy opt out even just after one month of subscription. Their monthly no lock-in contracts offer the ultimate flexibility, especially for those who are looking to move houses — or are simply just looking to avoid getting tied to a long contract.

Another great thing about iPrimus’ broadband plans is how it’s all simplified, devoid of complicated terms and conditions that usually confuse customers. If simplicity, convenience, and even affordability is what you’re after, then iPrimus can readily deliver it to you.

Unlimited Data

As the title suggests, these plans are all unlimited ones, which means no data download limits. As iPrimus lets customers build their own plan, you can choose the speed tier and the contract option that’ll suit your needs. Any unlimited plan can run on NBN50, NBN95, NBN200, or the new NBN350 if available at your address with all plans on a no lock-in contract arrangement. All of iPrimus’ NBN plans also include a landline connection with pay as you go calls. You can add unlimited call packs for an extra fee.

Unlimited NBN + Fetch TV

There may have been a time when a connection to one of Australia’s leading streaming services might have seemed like a luxury reserved for the most well off among us, but in most Aussie households, streaming has been upgraded to ‘necessity’ status in recent years. iPrimus lets broadband users bundle in Fetch TV, which has fast become one of Australia’s favourite streaming platforms.

Fetch TV is still relatively young – and that’s in the streaming market, which is still practically in kindergarten – but it has built a fanbase which is one of the largest and most devoted in Australia. Fetch TV includes Netflix, Stan, hayu, YouTube, Prime Video, Disney Plus, Paramount Plus, BritBox and a whole range of other on-demand streaming services, meaning it gives you plenty of bang for your buck. In terms of scope, only Foxtel offers a wider range – but Fetch comes in a lot cheaper. Learn more about Fetch TV with this in-depth review.

How much is Fetch?

Adding a Fetch Mini set top box costs only $10/month, or Fetch Mighty for $20/month, and your choice of one premium channel pack (here’s a review comparing Fetch Mini with Fetch Mighty). You can choose from Vibe, Variety, Kids or Knowledge. Adding Fetch TV into your internet plan also has a $55 activation fee.

What makes iPrimus plans different?

As we said before, iPrimus loves a bundle. iPrimus has one of the most extensive arrays of bundles under the Australian sun. Unlike Dodo, who is another provider that has led the way with bundling, iPrimus offers entertainment bundle deals that do not require contracts – meaning that they’re a good choice for individuals, groups or families who may need to move within the next 24-month period but also want to save money by putting their entertainment and communications services under one roof.

Aside from cost savings, bundles are incredibly convenient. You only need to pay one bill per month, meaning there’s only one direct debit you need to keep an eye on. There’s absolutely no need to make a bunch of calls to all of your telco providers if something’s wrong. Calling out a technician only to be told it’s an issue with a different telco is time-consuming, frustrating and can be costly. With bundling, you can avoid this – and spend your time chatting or streaming TV shows instead.

Then there’s Fetch TV, which has quickly become a favourite of iPrimus customers and a drawcard in itself.

iPrimus review

The name iPrimus might seem relatively new, so it might come as a surprise to learn that the company recently celebrated their 20th birthday. Through a combination of investment in networks and nodes, forward thinking and offering a wide variety of plans that suit almost every user, iPrimus has emerged as one of the biggest players on the Aussie market. Their move into the Vocus group stable has only served to further cement their status as one of Australia’s leading lights.
