Which Streaming Services are Compatible with Chromecast?

Google chromecast device

Google Chromecast is compatible for use with a lot of Australian streaming services, here’s five of the most popular including several that offer free trials.

What Is Google Chromecast?

It’s a streaming device which allows users to stream music and videos to any TV outfitted with an HDMI port. The device plugs directly into the HDMI input, thus no cables are required for connection. All you need to do is plug in Chromecast and you are good to go. By using a Chromecast app on your PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone, you can control what you are watching.

How Does Google Chromecast work?

Well, it’s simple. First, you need to plug the dongle into a HDMI input. Most TVs today come with multiple HDMI inputs, so this shouldn’t be a problem.

Next, since this device is not battery-powered, you need to power it by connecting the Chromecast to your TV’s free USB port using a USB cable, or plugging it into a power point using the supplied power adapter (recommended).

And finally, you need to have Google Chrome installed on your computer or the Google Home app installed on your device to set up and control Chromecast. Through Wi-Fi, content from the internet is streamed to the device and then your TV.

What Streaming Apps work on Google Chromecast?

So, how can you watch free movies on Google Chromecast? For that, you will need to install video streaming apps. There are several apps that are subscription based. However, there are a few that are free as well. But, before going further, let’s take Netflix as an example. Launch the app and choose your desired program. Once you do, tap the Cast icon, and then select Chromecast Netflix to play on. As a result, whatever you select plays on your TV via Chromecast.

Below we have listed a few streaming apps you can use if you are looking to watch free movies:

Netflix

One of the first video streaming apps to have been associated with Chromecast, Netflix is considered the “king of streaming.” TV shows and movies can be browsed much faster if you are a Netflix subscriber. Even better, there is a free 30-day trial you can take advantage of.
